Meals and Meal Times

Our aim is to provide nutritious foods which residents enjoy and to provide choice

Breakfast can be taken in resident’s rooms or in the dining room. A choice of breakfast is available daily. Cooked breakfasts, cereals, porridge and toast are regular favourites. The kitchen staff will ask daily for the residents to choose from the menu, light snacks are also available as an alternative. At about 10.30am a mid-morning drink and biscuits are served.

The main meal of the day is served around 12.30. An alternative to the main meal is always available. The main meal is usually a two-course meal. Special diets, eg., diabetes, low fat/low calorie, vegetarian are catered for as are textured diets recommended by speech and language therapists.

A mid-afternoon drink is served at approximately 3pm with biscuits/cake.

Tea is served around 5pm. There are always alternatives to the planned meal. Supper is flexible; a hot drink is provided about 8pm and a light snack. Sandwiches are made daily for those residents who require them at suppertime.

Residents can have their own drinks and items of food brought in by relatives; however, these items must be labelled and stored correctly.

All main meals are cooked on the day using fresh meat/fish, fruit and vegetables, locally sourced when possible. Our chef likes to have feedback on the food and menu choices and is available to discuss options. In addition to the planned meals, light snacks and drinks are available throughout the day and night should residents request them.
